Things at Peter Paul are heating up and it’s not just the weather! Summer Promise is in full force and we are just getting started. We are also excited to introduce some new team members joining us at the Center. If you’re not already planning to visit us this summer, we’d love to have you – Summer Promise is a great way to see Peter Paul at its finest!
“Peter Paul helped me grow, I was really shy and it helped me interact more with other people, build my confidence, and ability to communicate,” Keonne reflected. Peter Paul, its teachers, and environment of caring adults and peers, gave Keonne a safe place to grow.
We can’t believe that the school year is almost at an end! The month of May was packed with so many wonderful celebrations that you can read about in this issue. We also have some fantastic things to look forward to in just a few weeks, when Summer Promise 2017 will begin!
On Thursday, March 30, we filled the gym with good energy, music, people, and info! At this spring’s Get Your Money, Honey Info Feast, Richmond Promise Neighborhood@PPDC offered our community members education and resources on finances and money management. In total, seventeen partnering agencies like Virginia Poverty Law Center, United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, and Park Sterling Bank (to name just a few!) were present to provide their information and programming to help folks reach financial goals and success.
We are thrilled to introduce you to our new Director of Education, Dr. Stephanie Bassett! With seventeen years of service in K-12 education, Dr. Bassett brings experience in instructional best practices, increasing student achievement, working with diverse groups, and parent and community involvement.
